CYBERSECURITY FOR BUSINESSES
Cybersecurity for Small and Medium-Sized Businesses, Managed by Mica IT
Cybersecurity is not a standalone security product, but an integral part of sound IT management. Mica IT brings together identities, devices, email, data, and recovery into a single, managed approach.
We implement the appropriate measures, monitor relevant indicators, and follow up on incidents. Our management processes are ISO 27001:2022-certified.
- MFA, Access Policy, and Careful Rights Management
- Intune, Microsoft Defender, and Active Patch Management
- Ongoing technical monitoring and clear incident follow-up
- Backup, recovery, awareness, and responsibilities arranged in advance

Why Outsource Cybersecurity to Mica IT?
A virus scanner, phishing training, or periodic security scan can be useful. However, these components alone do not constitute a managed cybersecurity service.
Users come and go, permissions change, devices fall behind on updates, and settings are adjusted over time. At the same time, security alerts must be assessed, and it must be clear in advance who is authorized to respond to an incident.
A Single, Integrated Approach
Identities, devices, Microsoft 365, the network, data, backup, and recovery are all managed from a single security view.
Making Good Use of Microsoft Security
We first make use of the capabilities available within your existing Microsoft licenses and only add additional solutions when there is a demonstrable need for them.
Continuous monitoring
Technical checks continuously monitor accounts, devices, email, updates, backups, and other managed components.
Managed Incident Follow-Up
It is clear in advance how reports will be assessed, what priority applies, who will be notified, and what actions Mica is authorized to take.
Backup and Recovery Ready
We document which data and systems are protected, how the recovery process works, and who is authorized to make decisions in the event of an incident.
Permanent engineers and clear agreements
You'll speak directly with people who are familiar with your environment. The scope, exceptions, response times, and responsibilities are defined in advance.
Where are your biggest cyber risks?
During a no-obligation security check, we review Microsoft 365, accounts, administrator privileges, devices, email security, updates, backups, and existing incident response procedures, among other things.
Professional Cybersecurity for Prevention, Detection, and Recovery
- Prevention: Accounts, devices, email, and systems are set up securely and kept up to date.
- Detection: Unusual behavior, threats, missing updates, and other relevant indicators are highlighted.
- Recover: Incident procedures, backups, and recovery plans help minimize the impact if something does go wrong.

How does Mica IT help you get your cybersecurity in order?
We don’t just implement as many security measures as possible without a plan. First, we determine what your organization actually needs to protect, which risks are relevant, and which responsibilities Mica can take on.
1. Assessment of the Environment and Risks
We map out users, accounts, administrator privileges, Microsoft 365, devices, servers, the network, applications, vendors, backups, and existing security measures.
We also review past incidents, available documentation, Microsoft licenses, and the processes related to hiring and termination.
2. Security Plan and Clear Agreements
You will receive a prioritized plan that outlines what needs to be resolved immediately, which improvements will follow, and which measures are appropriate in the longer term.
We also define the scope, responsibilities, response times, points of contact, escalation procedures, authorities, required licenses, and costs.
3. Organization and Controlled Implementation
We are implementing the agreed-upon improvements in phases. These include MFA, access policies, administrator roles, Intune, Defender, email security, patch policies, backup, and awareness.
Major changes are tested and, where necessary, rolled out first to a limited group of users. This allows us to improve security without unnecessarily disrupting day-to-day operations.
4. Ongoing Management and Improvement
After setup, we continue to manage accounts, permissions, devices, updates, alerts, and agreed-upon security measures.
Reports and incidents are followed up on according to the agreed-upon priorities. We periodically discuss risks, exceptions, changes, and improvements with your designated contact person.
Ready for cybersecurity without any loose ends?
Mica IT integrates security into day-to-day management, support, and recovery. You won’t receive a collection of standalone products, but rather a clear plan for implementation, responsibilities, monitoring, incident response, and continuous improvement.
How Customers Experience Secure and Reliable IT Management
Effective cybersecurity is often barely noticeable when everything is going well. Employees mainly notice that they can work safely, that access rights and devices are properly managed, and that action is taken quickly when something goes wrong.

What is cybersecurity for businesses?
Cybersecurity encompasses the technical and organizational measures an organization uses to protect its accounts, devices, systems, applications, and data against misuse, downtime, loss, and unauthorized access.
A mature approach isn't just about prevention. It also includes detection, incident response, recovery, and continuous improvement. Cybersecurity is therefore an ongoing management process, not a one-time installation.
For which organizations is Mica's cybersecurity service suitable?
This service is particularly well-suited for small and medium-sized businesses that rely heavily on Microsoft 365, digital workspaces, cloud applications, and business data, but do not have all the necessary security expertise and capacity in-house.
Mica is specifically designed for organizations with approximately 20 to 250 workstations. Smaller or larger environments may also be suitable, depending on the complexity, desired services, and division of responsibilities with an in-house IT department.
Is cybersecurity a separate service from system administration?
Cybersecurity is an integral part of professional system administration, but it can be organized as a separate responsibility.
When Mica manages your entire IT environment, security measures are directly integrated with workstations, servers, Microsoft 365, the network, support, and backup. If you have an in-house IT staff member or another management provider, Mica can handle a clearly defined portion of your security.
Each of the various Mica services has its own role:
- System administration includes the day-to-day management of the entire IT environment.
- Microsoft 365 Management focuses on email, files, collaboration, accounts, and security within Microsoft 365.
- The Modern Workplace brings together devices, accounts, Microsoft 365, security, and support for employees.
- Microsoft Intune manages devices, settings, applications, and device status.
- Microsoft 365 Backup provides a separate recovery path outside of Microsoft 365.
- Application management focuses on the operation and support of company-specific applications and processes.
Cybersecurity links the security components of these services together.
What does Mica manage and monitor on a daily basis?
That depends on the agreed-upon scope. This may include, among other things, accounts, administrator privileges, device status, endpoint security, updates, email security, backup tasks, and relevant security alerts.
Mica also implements changes, provides support for onboarding and offboarding, follows up on incidents, and offers advice when new risks or technical possibilities arise. The management plan specifies exactly which components are monitored, how reports are handled, and what exceptions apply.
How can Microsoft 365 Business Premium help with our security?
Microsoft 365 Business Premium provides a solid foundation for organizations with up to 300 users. It includes Microsoft Entra ID P1, Microsoft Intune Plan 1, Microsoft Defender for Business, and Microsoft Defender for Office 365 Plan 1, among other features.
This enables organizations to, among other things, secure accounts and access, manage devices, protect endpoints, and implement additional email security measures.
A license alone does not automatically ensure a secure environment. The features must be designed, configured, tested, maintained, and monitored. Mica assesses which options are right for your organization and determines when additional Microsoft licenses or other security services are needed.
Is our IT environment monitored 24 hours a day?
Many technical monitoring and security products continuously collect and evaluate signals. Certain threats can also be automatically blocked or mitigated.
That's not the same as an engineer manually monitoring a dashboard day and night. Mica assesses and handles alerts according to the agreed-upon service windows, priorities, and response times.
For mission-critical environments, additional arrangements can be made regarding availability and escalation outside of regular business hours. The proposal always explicitly states what is and is not covered by monitoring and incident response.
What happens when a security incident is detected?
First, an assessment is made to determine whether the report actually constitutes an incident and which accounts, devices, data, or systems may be involved.
Appropriate measures are then taken to limit further damage. Depending on the incident and the agreed-upon mandate, this may involve, for example, blocking an account, terminating active sessions, isolating a device, or temporarily restricting access.
We then investigate the suspected cause, assist with recovery, and improve security where necessary. If specialized forensic investigation, legal support, an insurer, or a report to a regulatory authority is required, we coordinate this with the organization and the relevant specialists.
Which security features are standard, and which are optional?
That depends on the Mica service package you choose. Within a full-service system management package or a managed Modern Workplace solution, account management, MFA, updates, endpoint security, monitoring, and backup checks are typically included in the basic managed services.
Features such as a comprehensive Intune configuration, Conditional Access, additional Defender functionality, a standalone Microsoft 365 backup, phishing simulations, advanced log analysis, and after-hours support are included when the risks and desired service level warrant it.
In each proposal, we specify the following separately:
- What's included;
- which licenses are required;
- which parts are optional;
- what tasks Mica is responsible for;
- which tasks will remain with your organization or other suppliers.
What responsibilities does our organization itself have?
Cybersecurity can never be entirely delegated to an external IT partner. The organization remains responsible for decisions regarding business risks, data, employees, suppliers, and the desired balance between security and operational feasibility.
That is why we are asking, among other things, for a designated point of contact, timely information about new hires and departing employees, and prompt reporting of suspicious situations. We also agree in advance on who is authorized to make decisions when a security measure affects business operations.
Mica can fully manage the technical security measures or collaborate with an in-house IT staff member, security manager, privacy officer, or external consultant.
Does Mica also help with the GDPR, the Cybersecurity Act, NIS2, or ISO 27001?
Mica can help you set up, manage, and demonstrate compliance with technical and organizational security measures. These include access control, logging, patch policies, backups, incident response procedures, vendor access rights, and periodic reports.
This can provide support with customer inquiries, cyber insurance, audits, the GDPR, ISO certification processes, and obligations arising from the Cybersecurity Act.
Mica is not a legal advisor or a certifying body and does not guarantee that an organization will automatically comply with every standard or law simply by purchasing an IT service. Where necessary, we work together with the organization’s own advisor, auditor, legal counsel, or privacy officer.
How much does cybersecurity from Mica IT cost?
The costs depend on the number of users, devices, servers, and locations; the current setup; available Microsoft licenses; desired monitoring, backup, and awareness measures; and agreements regarding incident response.
A proposal typically consists of:
- any one-time costs for assessment and improvements;
- Required Microsoft and security licenses;
- a fixed monthly fee for management and monitoring;
- any additional services or appointments outside of regular business hours.
After the assessment, you will receive a clear proposal that separately outlines the scope, responsibilities, exceptions, and costs.
