Start with the responsibility you want to address
You don't need to know in advance which Microsoft technology, cloud solution, or security service you'll need. The simplest choice starts with the question of how much responsibility you want to entrust to Mica IT.
Full IT Responsibility
You're looking for a single partner to manage, secure, and support your entire IT environment—from workstations, accounts, and Microsoft 365 to servers, the network, backups, and day-to-day user questions.
Fully Managed Workstations
You want everything related to each employee to be managed as a single, integrated package: the device, account, Microsoft 365, applications, access, security, backup, and support.
A specific IT issue
You're looking for specialized support for Microsoft 365, cybersecurity, device management, virtual desktops, backup, business applications, or Copilot.
How Our IT Services Work Together
A good IT environment isn't made up of standalone products. Workstations, Microsoft 365, security, backup, applications, and support must all work together seamlessly.
In this short video, you'll see how Mica IT brings these elements together and takes on responsibility where your organization needs it—from providing support for a specific issue to managing your entire IT environment.
All IT Services from Mica IT
Some services cover a large part of your IT environment. Other services address a specific issue or serve as a building block within a broader range of services.
Management and Workstations
System administration
Full or shared responsibility for your IT environment. Mica IT monitors, maintains, secures, and supports the agreed-upon workstations, servers, networks, accounts, Microsoft 365 environment, and users.
Applies when: you're looking for a single primary IT partner and clear management agreements.
Modern Workplace
The complete digital workspace for every employee. We bring together devices, accounts, Microsoft 365, applications, access, security, backup, onboarding, and support into a single managed standard.
Applies when: you want to provide every employee with a fully equipped and consistently maintained workspace.
Microsoft 365
Professional management of your Microsoft 365 environment. This includes users, licenses, email, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, permissions, security settings, backup schedules, and daily support.
Applies when: Microsoft 365 needs to be managed properly, without immediately outsourcing the entire workplace or IT environment.
Security and Business Continuity
Cybersecurity
Comprehensive protection for accounts, devices, email, data, and access. Mica IT identifies risks, implements appropriate measures, and ensures that security, monitoring, follow-up, and disaster recovery planning are seamlessly integrated.
Applies when: if you want to organize your cybersecurity as an ongoing process, rather than as a collection of standalone products.
Microsoft Intune
Centralized management of laptops, smartphones, and tablets. We handle setup, device registration, applications, settings, updates, security policies, and monitoring of device status.
Applies when: you want control over business devices and secure access, without immediately outsourcing the entire workplace.
Microsoft 365 Backup
A separate backup outside of Microsoft 365, stored in Dutch data centers. Mica IT monitors the process and provides support for restoring email, files, and supported collaboration data.
Applies when: you want to establish an additional recovery path in addition to the recovery options available within Microsoft 365.
Cloud, Applications, and Innovation
Azure Virtual Desktop
Windows desktops and business applications are centrally available through Microsoft Azure. We determine, on a per-user-group basis, whether a full desktop, a shared environment, or just a centrally hosted application is needed.
Applies when: applications need to run centrally, or users in different locations need the same environment.
Application management
Technical management of business-critical software and the associated vendors and dependencies. This includes servers, databases, accounts, integrations, certificates, updates, incidents, and changes.
Applies when: Employees don't have to figure out on their own whether a problem lies with the application, the IT environment, or the software vendor.
Microsoft Copilot
Managed implementation and support for Microsoft 365 Copilot. From licensing advice, data, and access rights to a pilot, training, usage guidelines, and ongoing optimization.
Applies when: you want to use AI responsibly within a well-configured Microsoft 365 environment.
Not sure which IT service you need?
That's not surprising. Many IT issues affect multiple components at once. For example, a problem with an application can arise at the workstation, in the account, with the connection, on the server, or at the software vendor.
During a no-obligation assessment, we’ll discuss your current situation, challenges, and responsibilities. You’ll receive practical initial advice on the most logical service—not necessarily the most comprehensive solution.
The Differences at a Glance
The names of IT services sometimes sound similar because, in practice, their components work together. The main difference lies in the starting point and the responsibilities associated with each service.
System Administration and the Modern Workplace
System administration covers the organization's entire IT environment. This may include servers, networks, cloud environments, and business applications.
The Modern Workplace starts with the employee and brings together everything that employee needs to work digitally. The Modern Workplace can be part of system management, but it can also be purchased separately.
Microsoft 365 and the Modern Workplace
Microsoft 365 is a platform for email, files, communication, and collaboration, among other things.
The Modern Workplace goes a step further and also encompasses the device, identity, applications, access security, onboarding, replacement, offboarding, and day-to-day user support.
Microsoft Intune and the Modern Workplace
Intune provides centralized management of devices and applications. This makes it an important technical building block.
A comprehensive Modern Workplace includes not only Intune but also Microsoft 365, user accounts, hardware, data, security, support, and the entire employee lifecycle.
Azure Virtual Desktop and the Modern Workplace
Azure Virtual Desktop is not automatically a replacement for a standard managed workstation. For many employees, a managed laptop with Microsoft 365 and Intune remains the simplest solution.
AVD is added when applications need to run centrally, data and processing need to remain together, or users require a specific centralized work environment.
Cybersecurity and Backup
Cybersecurity helps reduce risks, detect anomalies, and mitigate incidents. Backups provide a way to recover data after it has been deleted, damaged, or lost due to an incident.
A backup does not prevent an attack, and security does not guarantee that recovery will never be necessary. Therefore, these two elements must work together.
System Administration, Application Management, and Copilot
System administration provides the technical foundation on which employees and applications operate. Application management adds technical oversight regarding specific business software, integrations, and vendors.
Copilot is a layer built on top of Microsoft 365. A responsible implementation therefore starts with properly configured data, permissions, security, and work agreements.
From an IT Need to the Right Service
We don't start by selling a package. First, we determine what responsibilities are needed, which components are already in good shape, and where the main risks or bottlenecks lie.
1. Assessment
We map out users, workstations, Microsoft 365, servers, networks, applications, data, licenses, vendors, security, and existing agreements.
2. Scope and Recommendations
We determine what can remain as is, what needs to be improved, and which tasks Mica IT can take over. We also define which responsibilities will remain with your organization or internal IT team.
3. Acquisition or Implementation
We arrange access and documentation, implement the agreed-upon improvements, and oversee a handover, migration, pilot, or phased rollout with as little disruption as possible.
4. Management and Improvement
After the system goes live, we’ll handle the agreed-upon monitoring, support, changes, and checks. We’ll periodically discuss usage, risks, and logical next steps.

Frequently Asked Questions About IT Services
What is meant by "IT services"?
IT services, also known as ICT services, involve activities related to setting up, managing, securing, and supporting an organization’s digital environment.
Mica IT's services include system administration, Microsoft 365, managed workstations, cybersecurity, device management with Intune, Azure Virtual Desktop, Microsoft 365 backup, application management, and Microsoft Copilot.
An IT service can be purchased on its own or as part of a broader service offering. We define in advance which tasks, systems, support, and responsibilities are covered by the agreement.
What IT services does my organization need?
That depends mainly on the responsibilities you want to assign.
If you're looking for a single partner to manage your entire IT environment, system administration is usually the logical starting point. If you want everything related to each employee's digital workspace taken care of, the Modern Workplace is a better fit.
If you have a specific question about Microsoft 365, devices, cybersecurity, backup, virtual desktops, applications, or Copilot, you can also purchase a single specialized service. During an assessment, we’ll help you determine the appropriate scope.
What is the difference between system administration and the Modern Workplace?
System administration focuses on the entire IT environment. This may include workstations, servers, networks, accounts, Microsoft 365, security, backup, business applications, and user support.
The Modern Workplace focuses specifically on everything an employee needs to work digitally. This includes devices, accounts, Microsoft 365, applications, data, access rights, security, onboarding, and support.
The Modern Workplace can be part of system administration, but it can also be set up as a separate service.
Is Microsoft 365 management part of system administration?
That's possible, but not necessary.
When Mica IT handles all system management, Microsoft 365 can be included within those management agreements. In addition to the rest of the IT environment, we then manage users, licenses, email, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, permissions, and security settings.
If you only want your Microsoft 365 environment managed, you can also purchase this service on its own. The tasks and responsibilities are clearly defined in advance.
When do I need Microsoft Intune, and when do I need the Modern Workplace?
Microsoft Intune is designed for the centralized management of devices and applications. Among other things, it allows for the targeted deployment of settings, updates, applications, and security policies.
The Modern Workplace is broader in scope. In addition to device management, it also encompasses user accounts, Microsoft 365, hardware, applications, data, access rights, onboarding, replacement, offboarding, and day-to-day support.
Intune is suitable for a specific device management challenge. The Modern Workplace is suitable when you want to manage the entire ecosystem surrounding each employee.
Is Azure Virtual Desktop an alternative to the Modern Workplace?
Not automatically.
Many employees can work effectively on a locally managed laptop with Microsoft 365, Intune, and appropriate security measures. Azure Virtual Desktop becomes particularly useful when Windows applications need to run centrally, users in different locations require the same environment, or data and processing need to remain centrally managed.
AVD can complement the Modern Workplace and, in certain situations, replace part of the local workplace. Mica IT evaluates which configuration makes the most sense from a technical and financial standpoint for each user group.
Where does cybersecurity fit into Mica IT's IT services?
Security is integrated into virtually all IT services. Appropriate security measures are incorporated into system administration, Microsoft 365, the Modern Workplace, Intune, Azure Virtual Desktop, and application management.
Consider multi-factor authentication, access control, updates, device policies, email security, monitoring, least privilege, and recovery procedures.
Cybersecurity can also be implemented as a separate improvement initiative if you first want to identify risks, strengthen measures, or better organize responsibilities.
What is the difference between system administration and application management?
System administration focuses on the technical infrastructure of the organization, such as workstations, servers, networks, accounts, cloud environments, and day-to-day support.
Application management focuses on the technical operation and interrelationships surrounding a specific business application. Examples include ERP, CRM, financial, or industry-specific solutions, along with their associated databases, servers, accounts, integrations, certificates, and software vendors.
The services complement each other. Mica IT can manage both the underlying IT environment and handle the technical oversight of business-critical applications.
Can Mica IT also provide a single, standalone IT service?
Yes. You can purchase individual services, such as Microsoft 365 management, Intune, Microsoft 365 backup, Azure Virtual Desktop, or application management.
Mica IT can also collaborate with an in-house IT staff member, IT department, or existing vendor. In such cases, we define for each component who is responsible, what access is required, how reports are handled, and where exceptions or dependencies exist.
How much do Mica IT's IT services cost?
The costs depend on the number of users, devices, servers, and locations; the current setup; the selected services; the required licenses; security requirements; and the desired level of support.
A proposal may include one-time costs for assessment, setup, migration, or takeover, as well as a fixed monthly fee for the agreed-upon management and support.
After the assessment, you will receive a clear proposal that separately outlines management, project work, licenses, hardware, responsibilities, and any exceptions.
