Microsoft Intune by Mica IT

Implement, improve, or have Intune managed

You don't have to start from scratch. We'll build on your current environment and make it clear in advance what can stay the same, what needs to change, and who will be responsible after completion.

New Intune Deployment

We'll set up Intune from the ground up: from licensing and device enrollment to groups, policies, apps, updates, Autopilot, and a controlled pilot.

This creates a single, manageable standard instead of a collection of separate settings.

Improving an Existing Intune Environment

We review enrollment, assignments, policy conflicts, device status, app rollouts, updates, exceptions, and administrative roles.

You'll receive a prioritized improvement plan and clear next steps.

Migration and Management Takeover

We assist with the transition from on-premises management, Microsoft Configuration Manager, another MDM solution, or a current IT Partner.

After that, Mica IT can handle the day-to-day management either entirely or jointly.

Not sure if Intune is set up correctly?

An environment may appear to be functioning properly even though devices aren’t checking in correctly, policies contradict each other, or exceptions are piling up. During the assessment, we map out the infrastructure, licenses, and management agreements, and identify the key areas for improvement.

Our Intune Approach: Design First, Then Roll Out in a Controlled Manner

A good Intune environment isn't about having as many policies as possible. The configuration must remain understandable, testable, and manageable. That's why we follow six standard steps.

Step 1. Objective, Scope, and Responsibilities

We determine which users, devices, platforms, and data fall within the scope. We also define what Mica IT manages and which tasks will remain in-house.

Step 2. Current Environment and Licenses

We take inventory of devices, Microsoft Entra ID, existing GPO or MDM configurations, applications, security, technical dependencies, and available Microsoft licenses.

Step 3. Design of the Management Standard

We design user and device profiles, groups, configurations, device policies, app rollouts, updates, exceptions, and administrative roles.

Step 4. Technical Setup and Integrations

We configure Intune and integrate the environment with Microsoft Entra, Conditional Access, and Microsoft Defender as appropriate, within the limits of the available licenses.

Step 5. Pilot and Phased Rollout

We test the setup with representative users and devices. After resolving any issues, we roll out the environment in phases with as little disruption as possible.

Step 6. Monitoring & Ongoing Management.

We document decisions, assignments, exceptions, and responsibilities. We then manage enrollment, policies, applications, updates, and device status in accordance with the agreed-upon scope.

Intune in Practice: From Sign-In to Management

In this short video, you'll see how a device is registered, receives the correct applications and settings, and is checked against agreed-upon device policies.

The strength lies not only in automation, but above all in a system that remains understandable and manageable even after implementation.

IT departments and employees notice this in practice

The greatest benefit isn't an additional management dashboard, but a single, consistent standard that reduces manual work, discrepancies, and surprises.

New Windows devices have a predictable layout

Through Windows Autopilot, new or reimaged laptops receive the agreed-upon baseline configuration without the need for traditional manual installation on each device.

Applications and settings distributed centrally

Approved applications, Wi-Fi and VPN profiles, settings, and policies are assigned to the appropriate user and device groups.

Abnormalities Detected More Quickly

Reports show which devices, policies, installations, or updates require attention, allowing for targeted adjustments.

Business Data Better Delineated

For both work and personal devices, appropriate policies can be implemented to better protect business data within managed apps and accounts.

Frequently asked questions about Microsoft Intune

Microsoft Intune is a cloud service for endpoint management. Organizations use Intune to enroll devices, apply settings and security policies, roll out applications, manage updates, and assess device status.

Intune can also protect business data within supported apps, even in certain BYOD scenarios, without managing the entire personal device.

Mica IT doesn't just provide the license. We design the architecture, set up the environment, test the functionality, oversee the rollout, and can take over day-to-day management.

Intune is particularly relevant when employees work at different locations, use multiple types of devices, new laptops are set up regularly, or business data is accessed from personal devices.

Even organizations with an in-house IT staff member use Intune to reduce manual work and create a single, manageable standard for devices.

A full Intune deployment isn’t automatically the best choice for every very small or simple environment. During the assessment, we evaluate the number of devices, the risks, the available licenses, and the desired management role.

Microsoft 365 is primarily about email, files, communication, and collaboration through Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, and other tools.

Microsoft Intune focuses on devices, applications, configuration policies, updates, device status, and centralized endpoint management.

The Modern Workplace is a comprehensive suite of services designed around the employee. It brings together hardware, Microsoft 365, Intune, security, backup, onboarding, replacement, and support.

System administration is even broader and also encompasses servers, networks, and the rest of the IT environment.

Yes. Among other things, we review device registration, groups, assignments, configuration profiles, device rules, policy conflicts, applications, updates, administrative permissions, integrations with Microsoft Entra and Defender, exceptions, and available documentation.

You will then receive a prioritized improvement plan. Once approved, we will make the necessary adjustments, and Mica IT can either take over management entirely or collaborate with your in-house IT team.

Therefore, an existing environment does not necessarily have to be completely rebuilt from scratch.

This is often possible, provided that the devices and operating systems are still supported and technically compatible.

The migration steps required depend on the platform and the current management setup. Some devices can be added with minimal effort. Other devices must be re-registered, restarted, or reconfigured in certain situations.

When migrating from another MDM solution, devices typically need to be removed from the old management system first. That is why we are testing the process with a pilot group and will then carry out the migration in phases.

Windows Autopilot helps prepare new or refabricated Windows devices. The employee signs in with their work account, after which the assigned applications, settings, and policies are applied.

Autopilot is not required in every situation and is not a registration method for macOS, iOS, or Android. Different sign-in methods are used for those platforms.

The time it takes to set up a device depends on factors such as the device itself, the internet connection, applications, updates, and policies. That is why we do not make a general promise that every laptop will be ready within a set number of minutes.

Yes. Intune supports Windows, macOS, iOS/iPadOS, and Android, among others. The available settings and sign-in methods vary by platform.

Work devices can be fully managed through device management. For personal devices, app protection can be enabled in certain situations, whereby only work apps and data are managed, not the entire personal device.

The right choice depends on privacy, risks, the applications used, and the way employees work.

These solutions work together, but they are not the same.

Intune manages devices and apps and determines whether a device complies with the configured device policies. Microsoft Entra Conditional Access can use that status when making an access decision and, for example, require multi-factor authentication or restrict access. Microsoft Defender provides security and risk signals regarding endpoints.

The available combinations depend on the Microsoft licenses. A device that appears as compliant in Intune meets the configured technical requirements. This does not automatically mean that the organization is legally, ISO, or NIS2 compliant.

Yes. Depending on the terms of our agreement, we manage, among other things:

  • new and removed devices;
  • failed registrations;
  • configurations and device rules;
  • application deployment;
  • update policy;
  • devices that no longer check in;
  • errors and policy conflicts;
  • onboarding and offboarding;
  • Changes and exceptions.

The scope, responsibilities, response times, and exceptions are defined in advance. Mica IT can take over full Intune management or provide co-management alongside an in-house IT staff member.

Microsoft Intune is available as a standalone product and is included in various Microsoft 365 and Enterprise Mobility + Security subscriptions.

For many small and medium-sized organizations, Microsoft 365 Business Premium is a viable option. This subscription is designed for organizations with up to 300 users. Larger organizations or those requiring additional Intune features may need different or additional licenses.

The total costs usually consist of:

  • the required Microsoft licenses;
  • one-time costs for assessment, design, implementation, or migration;
  • any hardware or additional software;
  • a monthly fee for the agreed-upon management and support.

After the assessment, you will receive a clear proposal that specifically outlines licenses, project work, management, responsibilities, and exceptions.
